We leave the city of Porto towards the Douro valley, a unique place where the combination of climate, river, grapes and human effort gave rise to the first demarcated region of World Wines for the production of port wine, picturesque location, lush landscapes and exuberant nature. Our first stop will be the charming city of Amarante. This ancient city is full of beautiful Romanesque architecture. While there you visit the 16th century São Gonçalo Monastery on the banks of the river, as well as the lovely Roman Bridge. After leaving Amarante towards the Douro valley, a unique place where the combination of weather passing through Peso da Regua, you arrive in Pinhao where you will visit for the first time the traditional train station, adorned with historical tiles that portray the culture of the region. After lunch you will board a traditional river boat (Rebelo) that was used to transport port wine to the wine cellars in Porto. Experience the historic Douro River and more spectacular scenery on this 1-hour boat tour, After desbanco, continuing this wine tour at the famous award-winning winery of Sandeman or Quinta do Seixo, for a comprehensive tour and tasting.
